If you are looking for a friendly golf society to join in the eastern / central  Algarve you have found the right place. The São Brás Golf Society - SBGS - has been in existence, in various forms, since 2000. We believe that playing golf should be fun and open to anyone no matter their ability.  We have 6 handicappers and 36+ handicappers - so all levels of golfers are welcome. Generally we hold monthly Stableford competions, as well as an annual matchplay tournement and fun events throughout the year.   ​The Society is a "not for profit organisation" with a nominal joining fee. The image above is the 12th green at the Quinta da Ria course, just 10 minutes to the east of Tavira.  It has to be one of the best views of any course in the Algarve. This is the societies home club and offers us three wonderful courses Quinta Da Ria, Quinta de Cima and Quinta Do Vale.  Many of our society members are also members of the Levante club at Quinta Da Ria and of the Portuguese Golf Federation.    

 

At  Society events  we play to rules aligned with the R & A golf rules, modified in accordance with local course standards, which tend to be more generous and make for fun golf and a quicker pace of play, (full details are available on our Governance page).
